Search Engine Optimization
SEO is an extra skill or a prerequisite to being a website designer or developer. A lot of the conversation seems to center around what is best for the client or what the designers responsibility is to educate the client about SEO.
I would argue however that the focus of the conversation should be what is best for your business as a web designer or developer. If you are not already offering SEO, you will be in the future.
If you already offer SEO services but the client chooses not to invest in SEO at the time you design their site, they probably will invest in it later. If you were good at what you did for your client, they will most likely return to you for their future web services so you should make it easier on yourself when they do want SEO.
When you are designing and coding any new site, you should already be keeping basic principles of conversion, usability and code standards in mind anyway. So if you develop the site properly from the start, whether they are your SEO client or not, if they do become your SEO client you’ll have an easier time doing the optimization. And even if they do go to another company for their SEO services, you will want that company to see that you provided a top notch product to your client or you may quickly get a name for being a poor web designer.
Anyway you look at it, keeping SEO in mind when developing websites for clients is a good idea for you and for your business.
SEO Fundamentals
1] Good content: Usually a site provides some content and lots of pictures but primarily search engines search for well written unique and mostly lots of new reputable text content regarding a certain topic or shall we say keyword, validating that you have sound knowledge of the product, service or keyword. You can publish and promote your product of services using text content via various digital media channels such as writing articles about your product of services or in blogs.
This is the most often reason why websites are not ranked well in search engines even though there web site promotes the product or service really good, with flashy images and pretty visual effect. Unfortunately this does not count much at all for search engines. Where or not you are a big or small business and your market is to the local market or if you are marketing to the international market. Your web site is your image and reputation on the internet, which can be used as a powerful business tool or as an advertising campaign which has become popular in the recent years.
Companies have two web sites one for promotional and business use and another as an advertising campaign, promotes certain products or services and the company’s profile.
Your website could be a crucial element in the business, as a whole new source of revenue and in time your business’s alpha & omega, your make or break. Without search engine optimization on your site your website has little or no chances of being listed in the first pages of search engine results there by have no visited via search engines, even you have great content on your website Sooner or later you will have to have your website optimized for the search engines.
Links:
Hyper links are a vital part of the internet with out these the internet would not be what it is today much at all actually.
The presence of websites thrive on links connecting it from one page to the other. Having a link or links from another site to your site amplifies it in the search engine rankings, search engines see it as a vote for your site.
More importantly is the work which the link is you want it to be your main or most important keyword or phase that which you want to rank well for.
For example if your website is about shoes you want others to link to you with the link as (shoes) not (click here), your site is about shoes not about click here.
Getting links to your website.
This is not that difficult. Different means of getting links to your site is:
